Findable (F), Accessible (A), Interoperable (I) and Reusable (R) data requires keeping track of not only the output of a given simulation or experiment but also its inputs. This so called provenance is achieved by providing workflows which cover the whole process from the initial inputs to the final results published in a scientific publication.

Therefore bridging the gap between workflows and knowledge graphs is one of the key challenges in achieving interaperability for the future of Materials Science. In our recent publication Toward Full Interoperability in Materials Science: Integrating Workflows With Knowledge Graphs we present the current progress in this direction achieved within the Project Material Digital.
