The NFDI Matwerk consortium aims to establish a digital infrastructure for Materials Science in Germany. As part of this activity the consortium is organizing yearly summer school for students in the field of Materials Science. This years summer school took place at the Ruhr University Bochum.

The 2026 NFDI Matwerk summer school covered a wide range of topics ranging from research data management based on electronic lab notebook to workflows. The pyiron tutorial primarily introduced executorlib, pyiron_workflow and pyironflow as well as how workflows can be shared between these three frameworks using the Python Workflow Definition.
